What is up guys? My name is Shane. In this beginner lesson you are going to improve your English listening skills. You are going to listen to 15 stories and conversations. After each one, you will have to answer a question. Sounds easy, right? Well keep watching and you will see how good your English listening skills really are.

The weatherman is giving the weather forecast for the week. What will the weather be like on Sunday? It looks like there will be lots of different weather for the last few days of the week. It will be sunny on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday it looks like there will be a lot of rain with very cold temperatures. But don’t worry because on Sunday it will be a beautiful sunny and warm day.

A man is out on Sunday because of the beautiful sunny weather. He meets another man with a bird. How old is the bird? That’s a very beautiful bird. How long have you had him for? Thank you very much. I’ve had him for about three years. Great! Where did you get the bird? My mother gave him to me. Oh so how old is the bird then? The bird is five years old. Why did your mother give the bird to you? Because she was tired of the bird always flying away.

A person needs directions to a pet shop because he needs to buy some food for his pet. Which street is the pet shop on? Go straight until you get to the second intersection and then turn right. Follow the road along and take the first left. Go up the road for a little bit and turn left again. The pet shop will be on your right.

A man walks into the pet shop and starts talking to the shop owner. What is the shop owner’s favourite food? Hi, how can I help you today? Hi there! I am looking for some food for my cat. Okay we have many different types of cat food. You can get dry food, wet food or even those little things which look like little pizzas. You are right! They do look like little pizzas. Just looking at them makes me hungry! You look like you love eating pizza! I do! It’s my favourite food. Oh really? Mine too!

A man is calling a pizza shop to make an order. What does he order? Pizza shop. What can I get you today? Hi! I would like to place an order for some pizza. Do you have any specials today? Yes we do! Buy two pizzas and get the second one half price. Okay I would like to order two pizzas, please. Any sides with that? Yes could I get some garlic bread, please? How many servings? Just one, please. Okay and any drinks for you today sir? Yes I’d like a soft drink, please. A bottle or can? A bottle, please. No worries. Your order will be ready in 15 minutes and will cost you $23.

A person is telling his son about his favourite sport as a child. What was his favourite sport as a child? When I was young, I used to play a lot of different sports. I played cricket, soccer, basketball and I did some boxing too. Now my favourite sport is boxing because it keeps me really fit and strong. But when I was a child, the sport I liked playing the most was soccer. It was a lot of fun playing with my friends and it took a lot of skill to use the ball.

A news reporter is talking about which day is cheapest for buying petrol. Which day is cheapest for buying petrol? Petrol prices are never the cheapest in the middle of the week. Prices normally go up just before the weekend. The petrol companies know that people like to go away on the weekend so they keep the prices high. Prices are normally cheapest after the weekend. Prices are still a little bit high on Monday so Tuesday is the best day to buy.

I was thinking somewhere with good beaches like Bali. Bali is good but I want to go somewhere with a bigger city. How about Japan? Japan has a lot of big cities but it’s too cold in the Winter. Addition is when you put two numbers together to get the total. We start with one number over here and another number over here. Then we bring them together to get the total. For example, one plus one is two. Five plus five is ten. Easy, right? Any questions?

We have a lot of available seats today, sir. Would you like to sit in the middle aisle? No I don’t really like sitting in the middle. Is there anything not in the middle aisle? There is. Would you like a window seat? No I don’t like the window seats because I have to ask the person next to me to move before I can go to the bathroom. Okay we have an aisle seat available. Would that be okay for you? Yeah that would be great! Thank you, sir. Enjoy your flight.
