Why do we use contractions?
We use contractions to make speaking English easier, shorter and faster. Contractions can also be used to speak in a less formal way.
Can I use contractions when writing?
You can use contractions when writing informally. However, when writing something formal, it is best not to use contractions. This is because contractions are considered informal language.
For example, if you are writing a text message to your friend, you can use contractions. If you are writing a letter to your boss at work, it is best to not use contractions.
